I like the idea, design and that you made something and sharing. A couple of things that might be added would be to pre drill the holes for the screws as you can split that wood very easily, use wood glue in addition to the screws, and put wood conditioner on before you stain it, this will help to make the stain even and sand in between the coats of clear coat. Not criticizing – just some additional steps if anyone wants to do them. I love the way you decorated it and the handles on it.

    What kind of wood

  30. Ryan Patel on October 1, 2020 at 5:16 am

I’ve calculated that you can actually get one 1x6x12 board for the entire project. You’ll split the leftover in 1/2 to essentially make the 1×3

I’m in the process of doing this. I have the chalk drawing and I’m ready for the paint. Your video was the best one I have watched while making my board. I love yours! You did a great job! Hopefully mine will come out just as nice.

I saw a stove topper similar to this and wanted one. I’m glad I found your video, it seems simple to make. If I don’t have the tools to cut the wood, would Home Depot or Lowes cut it to size for me?

  33. Dana Burks on October 1, 2020 at 5:20 am

Super cute! What kind of wood did you use?

    Beautiful! I love this stain!

  46. Ashley W. on October 1, 2020 at 5:30 am

I wished you would’ve specified what kind of wood you purchased. It does make a difference. We’re almost done with ours but we’ve noticed we may have to sand ours down because of the kind of wood we got.

  47. Janet Adams on October 1, 2020 at 5:32 am

Thank you for this video. Easy to follow and I’m so excited to make one now. I’ll also be making one for my sick…♥️♥️♥️

  48. Odetta Denby on October 1, 2020 at 5:33 am

Did you have to sand your raw wood?

  49. Tam D. on October 1, 2020 at 5:33 am

    Great Job 👏

  50. NeesieDoesIT on October 1, 2020 at 5:34 am

Hey everybody. I saw that a lot of you had questions on the wood sized that I used. I apologize if I said it incorrect in the video. The wood you purchase should be
    2- 1x6x6ft boards
    1- 1x3x4ft board
