    Great video!!

  3. aliceboyblue on July 7, 2020 at 3:51 pm

That wonderful bump is showing. Im so stoked for you and Max. Your inspiration always helping change the world one video at a time. Youre such a joy. The little one will bring a ton more joy into your world.

But in regards to the essential gadgets. I have a semi commercial kitchen. I just incorporated a vitamix into my life and let me say, its been a long time coming. I had a ninja for years but i personally felt it wasnt the boss of my playground. But for those who want to get a high quality mixer you can get a refurbished for a cheap price here.

Vitamix Explorian Blender, Professional-Grade, 64 oz. Container, Black (Certified Refurbished) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CX95VRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GisVBbX5D4CVM

These little guys are always cheaper when theyre standalone. Depending ones budget it can also be upgraded by adding more attachments.

An air fryer is everything, i absolutely love it. Yes the drawback is its size and cookability. It however keeps the home cooler compared to the stove. Its super quick. Its a single person gadget, a college kid gadget. It get the job done by being super versatile. Ive made mac and cheese, cakes biscuits, cookies, roast vegg, you name it in that bad boy.

Ok so im noticing how long this comment is. Ill stop now, lol. Ill simply chat with you again in on another video.

    Much love always,
    Grow be vegan. ❤

can i get a vegan date tho?

  6. Pierre Mathews on July 7, 2020 at 3:53 pm

I wonder what would happen with cooking a vegan meal with a vedic oven using olive oil as opposed to a polluting non-renewable energy source… curiosity killed a cat! Then again, you should have seen the other bigger cat attacking it!

  7. m on July 7, 2020 at 3:54 pm

I would never use a plastic chopping board, even if it’s recycled plastic..all those tiny micro plastic particles getting scratched off during chopping and scraping with sharp knives. I really like bamboo chopping boards! They’re more sustainable than wood and don’t really warp when they get wet like most wooden boards.

  8. woodswal on July 7, 2020 at 3:54 pm

    Love the video

Please may I ask you what size is your cast iron pan. I’m unsure of a good size to buy.

  11. V3gan Br33 on July 7, 2020 at 4:01 pm

Ditch the plastic and invest in steel and glass 💚 Also, microwaves are dangerous. We ditched ours because the radiation is real. And you honestly dont need it. Also, a full set of different sized cast iron is great (I have saucepans and a Dutch oven even). KitchenAid mixes are a waste of money. I got one, used it 1 time in a year, and sold it. Also, a bamboo steamer and a rice cooker are great too!

  12. Kari Business on July 7, 2020 at 4:01 pm

I want to go vegan so bad!!!! It’s just so expensive to have smoothies for breakfast everyday, and the like.

  13. Christina Arundale on July 7, 2020 at 4:02 pm

I would testify that the air fryer is ESSENTIAL! I have one back home, but I didn’t buy one for college because I was concerned that I wouldn’t have the space. I regret that decision. 😫 The air fryer saves you SO MUCH TIME. I roast veggies in it for 12 minutes, sweet potato fries also take only 12 minutes, and there is no waiting around for it to pre-heat! Especially with being in college I’m missing the convenience of my air fryer, since I’m always crunched for time.😔

  15. misstvj on July 7, 2020 at 4:04 pm

Totally agree with your recommendations. When I travel to parent’s (they are a few hours away), I always take my essentials with me. Some things they have and some things I prefer my own (blender, non-stick skillet, food processor). They are not vegan but my mom is when I’m in town as she eats everything I cook 😃.

  16. Moonlightbrass on July 7, 2020 at 4:09 pm

love these! I should definitely get a food processor! I just boil my tea in a pot though, tea pots are pretty but I don’t think their essential.

  20. Robin Holbrook on July 7, 2020 at 4:15 pm

For all you young cooks getting started:
    1. I have had my Kitchen Aid mixer for 45 years! It’s worth the money!
    2. I bought a refurbished Vitamix last year and wish I had done so many years ago! It’s OUTSTANDING!
    3. Just bought Oster spiralizer as is cheaper than attachment for Kitchen Aid
    4. Wooden cutting board a MUST! Plastic boards dull knives. Use vinegar or lemon juice to sterilize but since you are not cooking meat… not big issue! Also keep them oiled. I use Boos products (I oil and wax my board.)
    5. Think that’s all for now!
    BTW: I’m 72…🌹

  24. Andreza Owens on July 7, 2020 at 4:20 pm

This is great! I’ve gotten several of these as wedding gifts, hand me downs, and refurbished & they have made life easier!

  25. Paula's Life on July 7, 2020 at 4:21 pm

I’m afraid of my cast iron pan rusting. But I want one. By the way you’re are a real natural beauty. Loving the hair and skin.

  26. Donya Lane on July 7, 2020 at 4:22 pm

Love your channel! I’m with you on the cast iron skillet. If I had to choose only one pan, it would be that (but then I’d have to choose which one from my collection that I’d keep, and that seems impossible to me… I even have a cast iron pizza stone!). However, cast iron doesn’t work well with tomato-y or acidic sauce dishes (like, pomodoro sauce). You can’t boil in them, either, because the water (grains) turns black. So, yeah, that multi-quart sauce pot is the perfect other necessary piece. One thing I might add to your cookware list is a good quality non-stick pan, especially, for anyone trying to cut down on oil. I can just "fry" things up so quickly with no oil, and clean-up is a breeze!

  27. Heather Lynn Gibson on July 7, 2020 at 4:22 pm

Hi! What size is your dutch oven? 6 quart or 4.5 quarts?

  29. Gnaya Auxia on July 7, 2020 at 4:23 pm

This video is absolutely amazing ! Loved the used appliance suggestion. I don’t know why I never thought to do that

  30. Arianne on July 7, 2020 at 4:24 pm

So +SweetPotatoSoul how do you feel about California Prop 65 Warning labels on pretty much all of the major toaster oven brands?

  31. Sharelle Jackson on July 7, 2020 at 4:24 pm

I am so glad you did this video, because I’m binge watching your videos thinking “I should probably get a food processor,” as you used it for every recipe in the last episode I watched. I would like to propose some alternatives I already have. If you could let me know if they’re good alternatives, that’d be great. Here are the alternatives I’m thinking about:
    Instant pot – crock pot
Dutch oven – pot inside of crock pot (not sure if it could be put on direct fire)
Steam basket – colander on top of pot with top on (think double boiler)
    Blender – nutribullet
Cast iron skillet – sauté pan (not sure what makes the cast iron magical lol)

  32. Y LinD on July 7, 2020 at 4:24 pm

I dreamed someone would make a video like this one! I watch so many vegetarian/vegan cooking videos and I’m always at a loss when it comes to trying out the recipes. I never have all the same tools at home and I don’t know which ones are "essentials" or not

  33. Smoked Eel on July 7, 2020 at 4:24 pm

Thank you! I will buy the skillet definitely 🔥🤠🥦 For food processor and blender cheaper combo I highly recommend Ninja. It does the job very well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ninja-BL682UK2-1500W-Processor-Auto-iQ/dp/B01M74JVHE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=ninja+food+processor&qid=1578951432&sprefix=ninja+food&sr=8-2

  37. Eileen Beal on July 7, 2020 at 4:27 pm

I just moved cross country from Northern CA to Charlotte and got rid of some of my old kitchen stuff, I needed some new things so this video came in handy. I just got the dutch oven, wooden spoons, stainless steel pot, baking sheets and cutting board! I’m making a pot of vegan chili in the dutch oven today.

  38. Alon zoE on July 7, 2020 at 4:28 pm

Looks all good except for the microwave….it takes the nutrients out of the food so not as healthy as other methods of cooking 🙂

The only thing you are missing from my inventory is my cheese cloth. I’m obsessed with making vegan gourmet cheeses though.

I use and LOOOVE my THERMOMIX and I have everything in one!

  41. Stephen Townsend on July 7, 2020 at 4:31 pm

Hi. Thanks. Very interesting. That salad spinner is something I did not know existed but us something I often want. They are so cheap. So if nobody else likes the vlog I do and I will be buying a useful appliance because of it.
Interested that you did not mention a dehydrator. I want to eat more raw and many raw vegans seem to need one. I don’t want to get one if I don’t have to.
    Thanks again, Steve

  46. themax2go on July 7, 2020 at 4:38 pm

Some constructive criticism and what instead to use:
    1. Cast iron skillet – not a necessity, in fact, should not use because of oil oxidation, also promotes cancer causing burning of foods (especially bread / "toast").
    2. Food processor not in the essential list – every vegan should have one, doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, but with insert for slicing (cucumbers, for example) and dicing / processing (standard blade).
    3. Blender not in the essential list – everyone should have one, to make smoothies and can even make your own plant-based milks with it.
    4. Missing cooking pots / tools / appliances: electric bread maker / machine – mixing w/o spending on a separate mixer and much easier clean-up (soak, done) to make sweet or savory dough, of course also make various breads; induction cook top (counter-top or if you have lots of money, built-in) w/ timer – saves money on your electric or gas bill, most efficient, plus much more convenient and faster; electric rice cooker (better than instant pot IMO) – add grain (rice, quinoa, …), add water, start and come back 30 mins later when done, also super easy clean-up; pressure cooker – best for beans; pot w/ steaming basket that goes on top and not inside + clear lid w/ steam hole – steaming preserves nutrients more than boiling or sauteing and also w/o the added oil, so much healthier all around, plus w/ induction cook top and timer, it’s fire-and-forget until it’s done, also due to no oil super easy to clean up, next to that the basked on top(!) of the pot allows you to steam and boil (pasta noodles, for example) at the same time, saving time and money!
    5. Not for cooking, but still a very effective kitchen item: removable kitchen faucet w/ spray – allows to clean very(!) efficiently, don’t even need to use a sponge most of the time if no oil was used (such as for steamer, blender after making smoothies or nut milk).
    6. Electric pizza maker – although not an absolute necessity, I love and make pizzas a lot, so for me it pretty much is a necessity.
    7. Air fryer – also not an absolute necessity, but great way to be way more efficient in terms of time, money (no pre-heating!) and clean-up, in comparison to using a traditional oven, plus reduction / elimination of oils and save money on baking sheets. I also have an infrared convection cooker, but the air fryer does the same and more, w/ easier clean-up.
    8. Waffle maker – also not a necessity, but I highly recommend one, much healthier alternative to burned bread AKA toast, also easier to clean than a toaster.
    9. Box grater is unnecessary and can / usually is difficult to clean, can achieve the same w/ respective "blade" for food processor.

    10. Dutch oven – again, unnecessary, rather use induction hot plate + pressure cooker, saves lots of time and money.
    11. Stick blender / hand mixer (mentioned) – not a total necessity because that one I don’t use all the time, but still on occasion and then comes in super handy.
    12. Kitchenaid (shown / mentioned) – only if you have about $500 or more available to also get the various attachments for making your own pasta noodles, can then use it as a food processor, peeler, … so much you can do with it, but again, only if you have the $$$ for it.

  47. Krystal E on July 7, 2020 at 4:40 pm

Agree! The kitchen aid mixer definitely looks gorgeous. I inherited my grandma’s red one & I love it!
