How much does a new kitchen cost?
In this video I go through the costs that I paid to do a complete renovation of our 1970s kitchen. I break down the costs for items like cabinets, countertops, electrical, plumbing, appliances, flooring and more.

Hi Steve. At 3:36, I see you have blue tape around the perimeter of the peninsula. Did you cut the vinyl plank wood flooring around that or put the cabinets on top? I always worry about the floating floors buckling under heavy weight.

I for one, would love to see even a time lapse of all the work. Congrats on the savings and thanks for sharing the savings.

  12. P Martinez on July 29, 2020 at 10:26 pm

Great video. I would like to know the color code or name on the paint

  13. Julia Monsanto on July 29, 2020 at 10:26 pm

I pay $15,000 in order to renovate my kitchen. Which includes cabinets, all hardware plus the installer, not bad.

  14. Andy Authentic on July 29, 2020 at 10:27 pm

Dang… this is bitter sweet… I appreciate the numbers but now I k ow for sure I’m going over budget

  15. SmilingKnight on July 29, 2020 at 10:33 pm

You go a steal with the appliances. I paid more than double that for my fridge, range, and dishwasher. I paid same with counter top and cabinets. How much would a reasonable contractor charge you for labor if you had to hire someone?

  21. Uptalk1 on July 29, 2020 at 10:46 pm

I think your old cabinets were beautiful and unique. I’ve never seen cabinets like that. Should’ve painted them and changed the hardware with new counters. I know it’s too late, lol. Awesome job though.

Great job with the remodel. From the comments, I noticed that the flooring is Mohawk Vinyl Plank. There are so many types in Mohawk, can you please provide the specifications and where you purchased the flooring?

Hi. I just watched your video. Incredible work. We are currently looking around to do the same, open up the kitchen to another room. We plan to use the cabinets we have. How much do you think it’ll cost to do that. We plan to add an island and nook. What’s a reasonable price someone would that all that for? Just trying to ask for advice.

  26. Casey B on July 29, 2020 at 10:53 pm

I also just madeover our kitchen <3 New Countertop, cabinets painting, new drawer pulls, new pantry, new decoration, new look for the tiles, new kitchen sink… All under 400 Euros!
Although it’s far from perfect – ours is a rental one so there are a lot of things that we are not allowed to change, but we’re happy with what we have achieved, especially considering the low budget

  36. Number Eight on July 29, 2020 at 11:02 pm

Thanks for your response, can you tell me which wholesaler that was? I subscribed already 😁

  37. TTT on July 29, 2020 at 11:03 pm

For some reason I actually love the before cabinets. I really like the uniqueness of them. I wouldn’t taken them out for this house but in a funkier mid century modern or contemporary house they could really work. I hope you resalvaged them.

    Great job on the kitchen.

  38. Liz Bee on July 29, 2020 at 11:06 pm

It’s a lot less costly to remodel homes in US by the look of it because your homes are built with more timber. In OZ most of our homes are built using double brick & concrete. It’s very costly to get renos done, sometimes even more than the cost of building new. It’s crazy. 🀣🀣 Great being able to use your own labour. Great job! πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘

You did a great job! Where did you buy the cabinets? I love the white look. Is there any support under the half island for the granite? For your trim and doors, did you use semi gloss white paint? I love your kitchen. Is there a coupon code you can share with me for the cabinets? Thank you!

I’m here because I was told for all the renovations in my home will cost me a whopping 80K. I can’t afford to renovate my home now I feel so helpless, I would love to learn how to do things on my own and save πŸ˜”πŸ€‘

  50. Willy thehero on July 29, 2020 at 11:15 pm

Full disclosure and concise in a soothing voice. And a job very well done. Thank you. P.S. I already have a shaker vanity in my master bathroom with the same handles, so now I have a much better idea of what this type of cabinets may look like in my kitchen should I renovate it.
