How To: DIY Modern Kitchen Cabinet Remodel | Update Cabinets on a Budget | Modern Builds | EP. 46

Today on Modern Builds I’m transforming some old, outdated kitchen cabinets into modern, slab-style cabinets. This is a simple DIY project that is great for weekend (or two) project.

Obviously a sink is getting installed. It was ordered online and has since been installed. There’s a picture on my Instagram @modernbuilds if you’re interested in checking it out.

  4. Adrian Fox on July 16, 2020 at 7:33 pm

wouldn’t it be easier just to rip them out and put in new cabinets?

  5. J Smith on July 16, 2020 at 7:34 pm

great video thank you, can someone please tell me the cost of replacing just the kitchen cabinet doors without a total re-do? there would be 10 doors and 5 small drawers – fair quality but not 10/10? thanks.

Why did you keep the center strip on the larger cabinets? One of the advantages of this new style doors is full access to what’s in cabinets.

I can appreciate the Passion and Labor but that Modern Kitchen looks like it belongs in a Doctors Office where they draw your blood or perform abortions.

It might look new, but after a few uses, hinges will fall, I still like a good wood cabinets that last 100 years…

  17. Charles on July 16, 2020 at 7:52 pm

He didn’t use dovetails on the drawers smh

  18. Roberto Bayoneto on July 16, 2020 at 7:52 pm

Honestly, with all the materials and labor to do this refacing, wouldn’t it be cheaper to just junk the old cabinets and buy new ones? It would be faster and the old cabinets could still be sold if they are structurally sound.

Let’s ruin outdated solid beautiful oak cabinets and replace them with MDF. Sad fact is that so many people what this look. No respect for solid wood anymore, sad really.

7:42 – the cabinets on the left above the microwave, how did they swing open if next to the other cabinet doors? Or do the hinges open within the cabinet dimensions?

  42. Manoah van der wolf on July 16, 2020 at 8:19 pm

on a yt vid and pic it looks good. but just take a look at 7:01 on how rough and unpleasing that paint looks. no bud, that’s not good at all. should have went the extra buck and spend on MDF with a laminated outer side. would have looked much, much, MUCH better, really.

  43. GeoFagus 123 on July 16, 2020 at 8:19 pm
