How to Live through Renovation

Mom and I both started our home renovations within the past 4 months…we are slightly crazier than your typical duo, but I think it’s a perfect opportunity to show two VERY DIFFERENT perspectives on how to live through home renovation! Regardless if you’re doing the work yourself, or hiring it out, a home remodel is still a lot of work and effort! These tips will apply to you varyingly depending on the scale of your renovation, but I do believe they will make the process a little easier.

Do you have any tips I missed? I’d love to hear them in the comments!

We’ve done lots of reno’s to awesome historic homes. We’ve gone without electricity, no kitchen, eating out of crockpots, no bathrooms and had to pee in a paint bucket, but when we all got the flu living in a cold 3 story old house, that was it…..we moved in with my parents! Lol I know what your going through and it was WORTH IT ALL!

I needed to hear this today! We are getting ready to move out of the huge home we just remodeled (bit by bit) and we are getting ready to move into a much smaller home that needs so much work. We have thought about buying a camper. We have talked to a friend about renting their little apartment. Ultimately I think we are going to do what we said we wouldn’t do and this is…..LIVE IN THE MESS. So…I will join your momma and say PRAY FOR ME! But I loved your tips and happy I found your happy little video to cheer me on 🙂

I’m going to remodel my own house while living in it. I’m going to start with the bathroom. My cousins live next door so I’m good there. When I do the kitchen I have a grill and microwave. Thanks for posting

Pray for me too. We haven’t even started. I’m just doing preliminary research! Also, we have three children still at home ages 11 and under.

Hubby and I renovating a 1930s homestead with well water in the middle of corn fields😳, been kitchenless for over 7 months, good thing we bought a travel trailer😅. 2 divider walls had to come down. So, new kitchen, dinning, livingroom, pantry, bathroom/laundry room, and…..2 bedroom addition with 1 of them being master with master bath. It’s like a rollercoaster, some ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change anything, seeing the improvements and all coming together it’s totally worth it because it’s something we did by ourselves and that is a really great feeling! Good luck to anyone that is currently working on a home project…big or small!

I’m renovating now! Every point you made was exact. I’ve learned so much through my reno… which is still in progress.
