I hope it is. I’m sick of everything farmhouse!

I was scouring YouTube last night looking for a good education piece on modern farmhouse design. This video is golden!

Just 🥰 love 💕 listening to you!

  6. Venus Leo on December 12, 2020 at 10:19 pm

Trends. It becomes an over the top characterization. It’s everywhere and completely overdone right before it goes out of style.

  7. nicola adams on December 12, 2020 at 10:20 pm

    As a dodo.

  8. Gioia Pharo on December 12, 2020 at 10:21 pm

……. so a family member has a log cabin rustic house …… wifey decided ….. the house needed an up date ……. Soulless Grey on every wall = the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE OF COLORS …… 🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮

  9. Nayla K. on December 12, 2020 at 10:23 pm

It’s fine if it makes sense. Chip and Joanna live that life and it works. I have no idea why my nice neighborhood in the middle of the midwest has houses with interior barn doors. Are you expecting a horse to drop by and ask to use the toilet?

Hi Lisa. I just found your channel and love ❤️ it ! What do you think of country French stying? I love this warm look but do know how to incorporate this style.

  12. pamela patterson on December 12, 2020 at 10:29 pm

Not sure if the farm house look is actually dead, but it does appear to be on life support.

  13. Lisa Holt Design on December 12, 2020 at 10:29 pm

Hey Guys! How many of you guessed the right answer from the community post on Wednesday?!?! It seems to me a lot of you had an inkling….Let me know in the comments below! And this is another in the STYLE BREAKDOWN SERIES, so let me know below which styles YOU want to see next!!!

  14. Laura Dickenson on December 12, 2020 at 10:29 pm

This is a great tutorial on farmhouse style! It is so real and down-to-earth. I love how decor is always useful – like hanging tools on the walls.

  15. bendietrees on December 12, 2020 at 10:30 pm

I like some farmhouse things but also midcentury modern and industrial as well as some 80s touches. I think eclectic style is the way to go. Because you will have a blend and it will never be too strong one way or another.

  16. edie gibson on December 12, 2020 at 10:30 pm

Adore your energy! Helped me get started on hallway painting this morning. Will you talk about when to paint molding white/wall color/ black / contrast. In a traditional home with , thick molding, how do we tone it down for “Farmhouse 2.0” but still take advantage of this detail?

  17. Cathy Lehman on December 12, 2020 at 10:33 pm

Hi, Lisa I am buying my fourth house—this one is ultra mid century modern, watershed roof, mosaic mon- chromatic fireplace in ecru marble, lots and lots of windows, natural light. Have you done a video on MCM?

  18. Lisa Schlacht on December 12, 2020 at 10:34 pm

Hi Lisa, Great video, I love this way of farmhouse decor! I do have a question regarding window treatments, I just purchased a condo and wanted to get plantation shutters for windows and door wall, do you think the shutters would be too much for this neue farmhouse 2.0.

  19. My Hodgepodge HeART on December 12, 2020 at 10:35 pm

No,but am tired of blessed etc signs

  20. Anne on December 12, 2020 at 10:35 pm

Thanks for this video! I am craving simple lines vs clutter so I would agree with you completely! You give excellent examples.

  21. E. C. on December 12, 2020 at 10:36 pm

This is a great informative and entertaining video. It would be nice if you made more videos like this with the other design styles, maybe Coastal(my personal favorite) can be next.

  22. Julian Aldama on December 12, 2020 at 10:38 pm

    It’s dead to me anyways

  23. Becki Porter on December 12, 2020 at 10:38 pm

I like a little bit of farmhouse stuff but not overboard with it. I think a few signs make a home feel warm, cozy, and inviting. However, I never have been a fan of the all white grey look and no color look. I like a couple of distressed pieces and a few green plants. But I like some color so it doesn’t look washed out and boring. I also like a medium stained wood and not all white furniture.

  24. Dimitra B on December 12, 2020 at 10:38 pm

A little farmhouse with your personal style sounds like where Lisa is going with all this. You should not go nuts in Home Goods. It will just result in a tacky look. That’s the easy button and will only get you easy results. I just really found some nice farmhouse furniture pieces at Raymour Flanagan and ordered them. They are part of a rather large collection. They are special order and will take two months to arrive. That’s not a run of the mill purchase unlike most Raymour things that show up in 7-10 days. I’ll even argue that those quick deliver items are too mainstream. Be selective and don’t settle for run of the mill. You just need to put in the work and look for the right pieces that work for your taste and space vs settling for what you find at Home Goods.

Old farm house antiques are beautiful.

  26. deftauntie on December 12, 2020 at 10:42 pm

omg I have to show this vid to my longtime gf – I don’t think she knows that her current home look is farmhouse 2.0 with some contemporary pieces 😃 She’ll know now 🙃

    NIce video!
Personally I never understood the giant clock thing. I also don’t care for writing on the walls…you know, those big signs that say "eat" or "family" or quotes painted across the room.
    Otherwise, farmhouse style is ok.
This pared down version is better, at least imo. Thanks for breaking it down Lisa.

I’m installing one now! I love it! Fireclay Farmhouse and industrial Faucet. It’s coming out cool! I’m trying to decide on paint color

    No contemporary in my Farmhouse……

  31. T Nicole on December 12, 2020 at 10:50 pm

I love cream colored couches but with kids and dogs, I don’t think it’s possible to keep them clean.

    Tired of white sofas.
    And brown

Farmhouse has needed to go away for a long time. I’m bored with text on everything: Live, love laugh. Farm fresh eggs. Kitchen. Eat.

  34. Ruth Lloyd on December 12, 2020 at 10:50 pm

See Farmhouse Venacular’s youtube channel —this is next. COLOR. This look your describing is sooooo 2020😂😂😂😂😂. No neutrals!!! BORING is out.

No matter what I see, and I love being in homes with different styles, I’m just a modern design fan.

  36. Cori Ryan on December 12, 2020 at 10:59 pm

Every damn subdivision in Dallas is a “farmhouse” …..

  37. Rebecca Barton on December 12, 2020 at 10:59 pm

Welcome back to the modern early 90s. Lol

  38. Rosa Molina on December 12, 2020 at 10:59 pm

Lisa, first time, first video! I needed to see this video. I’m in a farmhouse style because if the circumstances and want it “polish it” thanks!

  39. Amber A on December 12, 2020 at 10:59 pm

I lived in an old farm house. Original floors, walls, and fireplaces. It was cold BTW. Anyway real farmhouses are simple. Like you said everything served a purpose. The style is a trend. I have no theme in my new house. I just like what I like and thats all.

  42. Suzanne M Osborne on December 12, 2020 at 11:01 pm

Well, I live on a farm so it will never die, but it’s not that rooms to go faux farmhouse crap on HGTV. My beadboard has been there since 1922, as has my longleaf pine floor. I’m heartily sick of these homogenized designs. What happened to people having their own taste? You know what needs to die…granite countertops! Ugh

  43. Amber Nicole on December 12, 2020 at 11:04 pm

I like modern farmhouse architecture. But as soon as you hang a sign that says “farmhouse” or “milk” in your home you have taken it way too far 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

  44. Fernanda Nader on December 12, 2020 at 11:05 pm

I loved it that you pointed to links in Europe! I always feel jelaous of all the people on the US that can simply click and buy from your links! I just adore what you teach … You are the epiphany of what an influencer is meant to be, someone knowledgeable and fun.

  45. R N on December 12, 2020 at 11:06 pm

Really like your videos! I’ve been binge watching! 🥰

I actually live on a farm in Texas but don’t like the “farmhouse” design style!

Could you do a video on rustic, country, Mexican type of design style?

  46. Chella Graves on December 12, 2020 at 11:06 pm

I’m so happy I found your channel! I’m a 62 year old in a 120 year old farmhouse on 50 acres in central Texas and still deciding which way to go with the design of remodeling and decor. I’m a graphic designer and fine artist, but have no real "decorator" knowledge. I just know what I like. Lots of hand me down pieces. You’ve been a big help with the refreshed attitude!

  47. Blue Light on December 12, 2020 at 11:07 pm

Greetings from Alabama! I just found your Channel today and I’ve already watched several videos. I absolutely love how much information and knowledge you’re sharing with us.
I’ve been sort of in this Farmhouse mode for the past 3 years or so but like you’re stating, I’m really making sure that there’s not a lot of signage everywhere and everything looks more streamline but cozy and newer Farmhouse looking pieces. We live in a little cottage but it’s in a more upscale newer neighborhood. It’s just a small 4-bedroom 2-bath house, four-sided brick in very soft tone brick colors. The interior is painted in tones of grays and white. I love my home and it’s taken some time to get it where it’s becoming more cohesive and I’ve been able to add more interesting pieces over time. What I’m really hoping to do is update my art work. I want to reconfigure our hallway which on one wall is what I like to call our ‘art/ picture wall’. I have started to frame some of my children’s paintings and even transfer them to Canvas boards and frame those. Would you do a video on how to create an art wall in your hallway? I would absolutely adore that. I like to mix canvas paintings, art that my children are creating along with black and white photos of our family "in action", I guess you could say. They’re not your typical sterile family photos per se but just pictures of my children playing and pictures of my husband and I are at a wedding. They’re black and white and they’re framed in these gorgeous frames that match and then we have the canvas art/ colorful artwork all around them. I would love to know how to construct this in a way that is pleasing to the eye and not just a hodgepodge of a mess. Any tips of how to hang them in a specific way or how to arrange them properly would be so helpful. Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Yes it is dead. Has been for a while now.
