I designed this beautiful open concept kitchen to be both beautiful and functional. My client loves to entertain in her home and the kitchen is the central place where everyone unites. We chose all kinds of materials such as marble slabs, porcelain slabs, quartz slabs and marble mosaics for the back-splash. In this video I will take you through the differences between a porcelain slab and a marble slab and all the pros and cons of each! We will look at the type of counter stool you should choose, and what kind of kitchen pendants I was dying to install. You will see that I have chosen beautiful decorative items for the kitchen countertops and why I did so. I Hope you enjoy this great luxury kitchen reveal and please comment below if you love an open concept kitchen or if you prefer a closed kitchen. Always want to hear what your choices are!

Love watching your videos, they are so helpful and informative and I learn so much .. I have trouble finding my style and I am currently designing my home to build.. Can you do more videos on finding your design… modern, yet cosy, glamorous and stylish and functional at the same time..

  2. Nimisha Rajan on October 1, 2020 at 8:23 am

Love the design. Quartz comes in marble design. Why did you choose to do porcelain over quartz for the island?

  3. Eddie Chai on October 1, 2020 at 8:24 am

Those pendant lights are amazing. I couldn’t catch the name of them, do you mind restating? Loving the production value of your videos as well👏

  18. Madame J on October 1, 2020 at 8:37 am

Hi Nina! Loved your video! Could you possibly share the maker of the porcelain tile? Where I’m located I’m mostly seeing granite + quartz & am seeking the manufacturer name for porcelain so I can see which countertop stores sell it. Also, is it true that white porcelain tile is better than white quartz in terms of the sun damaging/staining the countertop? I’ve been hearing this + the reason I was thinking of going with porcelain is b/c I have a south facing kitchen window + would like white marble (looking) countertops + want to be sure to choose a material that will not become "yellow" over time! Thanks so much!!

  19. Tamara Edwards on October 1, 2020 at 8:39 am

  25. Tamara Edwards on October 1, 2020 at 8:46 am

Hi new subscriber here..beautifully designed kitchen. I have one question where can I purchase the chandelier for a dinning table that is the same design as the pendants over the island?

Hi! I love watching videos! Isn’t quartz heat sensitive so is it advisable to use around the stove? And given the explanation provided for quartz vs porcelain, why would someone want to use porcelain as it seems quartz provides all of the same benefits but is even more durable than porcelain? And can the porcelain edge be repaired nicely if chipped? Thanks a lot!

What are the dimensions of the island? Also, what is the space between the island and the stove?

  36. Krisztina Kovács on October 1, 2020 at 9:06 am

Dear Nina, answering your question I’d be happy if you could talk about the following topics:

    – Do the wood tones in a home have to completely match or can different wood tones work together? What rule do you swear by regarding this subject?

    – What do you think about colouring the walls a strong color, by that I mean like green, blue, red etc. Is that a design mistake?

    – What do you think about black doors/windows? Is that something that will stand the test of time?

    – I’d love to see the backyards of these beautiful houses you present us.

    – What do you think about open concept houses, where the kitchen is together with the living room? Do your clients regret making that decision? Does the noise and smells not bother them?

    – I’d like to see a minimalistic home, if you’ve designed one. Or people on this level don’t really ask for that?

    – If you build a home from the ground up, is there a building orientation rule you should follow or is it something that just depends on your preferences?

    – I heard an interview with you where you said that you built your home from scratch. Do you have any regrets? In retrospect, did you do any mistakes? (Which would be hard to believe)

    – I just would just love to see every single room in your home!

Sorry for the many questions! Love your content! 🙂

  38. Terry Folder on October 1, 2020 at 9:08 am

Hi Nina, enjoy all your videos… would love to hear more of your ideas on where tiles should start and end, when you have a bathtub next to a shower? how to deal with floors transitioning from wood to tiles,, where paint colors should start and end in a open space concept, colors of mouldings around windows and on walls, with its effects on style and look and all other transitions conundrums.
