We just had our floor’s done and we did all gray and we love it 🤷🏿‍♀️my home my floors sorry stop telling people what to like🤦‍♀️

  2. K Morris on January 26, 2021 at 8:00 pm

I was never a fan of an all white kitchen or the all grey pallet. Both are quite boring to me. I like designs that are different, colorful, timeless, not trendy because as we all know trends don’t last long plus I don’t have the money to change with the trend.

  3. Jeanette Kays on January 26, 2021 at 8:01 pm

Hate barn doors and grey interiors. Barn door need to live in barns. Grey feels very cold unless it leans to blue

    “ Decorates that I avoid “ that’s your title

  5. Peggy Lee on January 26, 2021 at 8:04 pm

In an appropriate location barn doors can be awesome the same with grey floors, white kitchens etc. Good ideas for certain places, unfortunately overused. This fuels a huge industry.

  6. Schoo on January 26, 2021 at 8:04 pm

I love a good sliding door for saving space, but you HAVE to make it look cohesive with the architectural and design elements around it. Not every sliding door needs to be a barn door.

  7. Meaghan Cecilia Wood on January 26, 2021 at 8:14 pm

But I only like neutrals and cool colors 😂 so grey it is. But the floors won’t be gray!!!

  8. Frank G on January 26, 2021 at 8:14 pm

@Baiyina, you deleted me over that? I’m disappointed. I do support some of your stances/it’s unreasonable to expect people to always agree with your viewpoint. Best wishes for your future.

  9. SuzyQ-22 on January 26, 2021 at 8:15 pm

The gray floor thing is horrific. It’s almost impossible to find LVP in traditional wood finishes, I’ve put off doing a remodel waiting for a red oak version.

  10. Keri Paulson on January 26, 2021 at 8:15 pm

So helpful! I am thinking about using black fixtures in my new house but I’m afraid I’ll over do it! Do you have any advice? ☺️

  11. Rachel Laugherty on January 26, 2021 at 8:15 pm

Please slap me if I ever use the word sexy when describing something in my kitchen

  12. Tim K on January 26, 2021 at 8:16 pm

I hate barn doors. I think pocket doors are more refined. Grey is for the lazy who are afraid of color. Same with all white kitchens. Just like any other room you want depth and texture

  13. D COSBY on January 26, 2021 at 8:18 pm

Unless someone has a better idea for a bathroom door i need barn door the hallway too small

  14. Yeahaboutthat Though on January 26, 2021 at 8:18 pm

2021 just got here, who is making these trend decisions for the whole year already 😩😩😩

  15. natalielawyerchick on January 26, 2021 at 8:18 pm

I appreciate this video because it keeps you mindful of the fact that trends come and go. But let me just say this. When I remodeled my fixer upper home in 2018, a lot of the inspiration that was available is what she is saying is now going away. Instead of choosing the all white kitchen, I went with white upper cabinets and deep navy lowers. I went with dark wood, grey walls in some rooms, robins egg blue elsewhere and charcoal walls in others, warm brown floors and will be installing thin sliding doors at some point. This is all to say, that not every room needs to look the same. Pick a color scheme/pallet instead of just one color. I used navy, grey, white, dark wood, and pops of light blue.

  16. Lokal Hotel on January 26, 2021 at 8:20 pm

Agreed on all white kitchen and all grey everything. We still like a barn door for space saving and flow if done well and matching other decor in the room. And they seem to be more durable and reliable than many installed pocket doors…

  17. R 0291 on January 26, 2021 at 8:23 pm

all gray is cold and sad. Sorry, just can’t get with it.

  18. Sherry Hudson on January 26, 2021 at 8:23 pm

    Signage 😫

  19. Lilly S on January 26, 2021 at 8:25 pm

I’m not great at decorating, so I appreciate videos like this that give me ideas. Thank you.

  20. Sherry Hudson on January 26, 2021 at 8:26 pm

I think the barn door trend was awful ……what a waste of good wall when opened

  21. oralia13 on January 26, 2021 at 8:26 pm

Hi! I would love to send pics of my apartment. I have those gray floors, look like cement!! Crazy part it, it’s in a brand new building! Lol. I think I did a great job. I’m still working on it but I fit an antique dresser into the design. I’d love for you to see it.

  22. Roberta Mahoney on January 26, 2021 at 8:27 pm

I cant stand trends i do my home how i like to make it homely ie farmhouse style designers just bore me.. Just saying like

  23. 4The L0veofBeauty on January 26, 2021 at 8:27 pm

So funny never liked any of these trends. People see something they like one place and really run with it.

  24. Mary Smith on January 26, 2021 at 8:27 pm

I’ve never been a fan of the barn door fad. You’re exactly correct that when used in most existing homes, they look out of place.

  25. MoiraPettifr712 on January 26, 2021 at 8:27 pm

Yes great advice! The country or tuscan kitchen is always a no no but imo the all white kitchen is here to stay! Yes you’re right to add an island for pops of color. Some have opined that tile backsplashes are out too! Shiney white subway tiles have become passe and never thought I’d ever agree with that! White slat blinds are out too! Wicker blinds with white trim project a classy look and this was from a designer in Stanford that did some very pricey homes! Open shelves look great in bathroom but in modération – for towels of course bc knick knacks in bathroom are tacky. I’ve also read that one should ditch the garden tub if you aren’t actually going to use it. Choose a larger shower with modern showerhead features instead. The so called "Chesapeake Bay" look is in – cleaner lines, pastel colors, white trim and wooden pieces, less clutter for a calming effect. Ooh yes those farm doors urghh they are barely acceptable but in work studios only. Wicker blinds with white window trim molding is what I had meant to say! Thank you for a well done video series!

    Yes. Yes. Yes.

  27. Jay B Buxton on January 26, 2021 at 8:29 pm

    White is not a colour!

  28. Shirley Scott on January 26, 2021 at 8:29 pm

You do you. I’ll do me.

  29. TouchMCookie on January 26, 2021 at 8:31 pm

Small bedrooms….has to go. In the process of looking at homes and master bedrooms are 15 x14 which is almost laughable because apartment bedrooms are the exact same size here in Tx

  30. Helen Hanna on January 26, 2021 at 8:32 pm

White kitchens have been around as long as there have been cabinets. After working in the kitchen cabinet industry, I can safely say they won’t be "going away in 2021" or any other year. Trends come & go. It’s a financial "slippery slope" to decorate according to trends. It’s better to decorate with what makes you happy and brings you joy.

  31. Susan Shutler on January 26, 2021 at 8:32 pm

Im so over stainless steel appliances

  32. Ryan B on January 26, 2021 at 8:35 pm

All white kitchen will never go out of style you can always add a little color maybe your island cabinet a different color but the all white kitchen will outlast any design trend

  33. Keto Lisa on January 26, 2021 at 8:36 pm

Style should never be dictated by anybody but you….do your own thing….I am always using colors that are my favorites not what designers say are popular…if I followed the nonsense that the design shows push, I would have to change my kitchen countertops and appliances every other year. Ha that’s just foolish…When did we become such a materialistic society? Lets let 2021 be a practical year…pay off your credit cards…pay down your debt. Don’t get sucked into the black hole of commercialism!

  34. Karen Okeane on January 26, 2021 at 8:37 pm

AGREE….1000%………….. I’ve always decorated from instinct rather than from trends, and you PERFECTLY articulated my views on these decors….which were formulated the moment I saw them, long ago. LOL. Love your energy, and am glad to have discovered your channel.

  35. MomomNC on January 26, 2021 at 8:37 pm

About to do a barn door!
    Maybe NOT!!! 🤣

  36. Tracie 3 on January 26, 2021 at 8:42 pm

My house is very coastal and so is the paint colors.. They are muted pale aqua, pale yellows, pale blues.. I switch out my decor items and will use white and neutral decor pieces.. I never went to the all gray everything.. I remember years ago that was trend too and then the all beige tones were in.. It flip flops it seems so I just do what colors I like and goes with my own personal style..

  37. Mary Heim on January 26, 2021 at 8:44 pm

I love gray. All gray makes me happy. Who’s to say whats in or out .

  38. Donna Mattis on January 26, 2021 at 8:45 pm

Trends are societal dictates, forcing conformity. Making you feel conscious, so you run out and spend. Carnival of consumerism. Life is individual. In the 21st C, I am not going to allow you to tell me that barn doors are out if I like them.

  39. Ellen De Lima on January 26, 2021 at 8:46 pm

I agree that changes are really needed in decor with the boring farmhouse style. The black/white /beige prints. Boringggg

  40. cjodigo on January 26, 2021 at 8:47 pm

Why would anyone decorate their home by what someone who doesn’t live in said home suggests? Pure stupidity. How about everyone decorate their home how THEY like it😏

  41. Julie Brekke on January 26, 2021 at 8:50 pm

Your opinions and observations certainly don’t qualify you as an expert. Other, more talented designers disagree vehemently

  42. Dale Flier on January 26, 2021 at 8:50 pm

All of this stuff—the ubiquitous gray, the bulky barn doors, the hospital white kitchens, and yes, the two-color cabinetry—that we see on television renovation shows will scream COVID-era in just a couple of years. Remember when everyone on TV thought they had to have a Tuscan kitchen? It will all fall the way of the taupe colored vinyl siding that stretch on for miles of cookie-cutter houses. The same is true for the open floor plans that people think they have to have.

  43. Stephanie Bake on January 26, 2021 at 8:52 pm

I am so over the gray. We have been looking at buying a house closer to my husbands work, everything is gray and white, or resd for some unknown reason. By the way, we live in a real farm house and love it! Looking for the second one without gray!!!

  44. Marley Art on January 26, 2021 at 8:56 pm

My home is near the ocean in Australia and mine is beachy boho. All white walls with soft blush pillows, white walls adding soft minimal colour with a touch of Pastel aqua. Lots of textures…I love my home. 💕

  45. Weirdly Madeline on January 26, 2021 at 8:56 pm

You are so right about the gray trend. I definitely fell into that and now I’m dying to clean the palette and just paint my walls white. Gray walls definitely wipe out so many color options for decor. Loved this video

  46. Sharon H on January 26, 2021 at 8:57 pm

I’ve never liked the barn door look however we put them in our rental condo (on the bathroom) because it was the perfect solution. It’s an old building and they built the master bathroom spaces without a door way. Barn door was a quick and easy fix. I can’t believe prior owners lived without a door on the bathroom for over 50 years!

  47. Erma Gerhd on January 26, 2021 at 8:58 pm

I can understand the unappeal of the barn slide door, but personally I like them because they don’t take up as much room. For example the house my family recently moved into has a basement and the door to the basement was kinda dangerous as it opened into the stairs and not the hallway but if we changed it to where it would open in the hallway, it would be too long and end up scratching the walls. So the solution was a sliding door. Maybe we could’ve made it not look like a barn door but with the way the house was made it actually kinda blends into the wall and isn’t noticeable or distracting

  48. Alice S. on January 26, 2021 at 8:58 pm

I don’t do trends. Love white kitchens….just personalize them with accessories

  49. jorazz16 on January 26, 2021 at 8:58 pm

Blink your eye & its out. Funny you have a gray flooring you need to get rid of it, there is so many colors you can use with throw rugs pillows Etc.etc change the whole room but no if you got your floor a year or year & half ago , spend thousands again to get rid of the color. I don’t have have the gray flooring & I am not poor but its funny to me when they make something that cost thousands a fad that people will change in a yr or 2.
Hey you got it like that go for it!! Seriously but if you don’t, don’t stress, you like it then its cool.
It sounds like I am putting down this lady & I am not.
I know the Demographic she is talking to & she is right & Talent it.
But I don’t want anyone who can’t afford to get new floor or all new kitchen to feel bad about your self, have fun & just change up your look because you choose neutral colors like white or gray so you have so many colors you can add, have fun❣❣❣

  50. Tamara Carman on January 26, 2021 at 8:59 pm

My take is do what you want, when you want. If you like it, then do it… to heck with people always deciding on things being outdated! I’m in a mood today, I can tell. 😂
