Two-Day Transformation: Coastal + Traditional (with Functional Flow!)

This transformation is all about flow and function. The space was BEAUTIFUL, but didn’t feel functional for our client and her family! See how we made it comfortable, while honoring their coastal and traditional style.

It is so painful to listen to vocal fry. I just turn it off. It can’t be good for you, either.

Omg! Where can i get those woven chairs? I absolutely love them.

Crying at the $1500 lamp I want it so bad 😭

  4. Rebecca McDaniel on December 27, 2020 at 10:20 pm

Don’t like the brown leather chairs…

  5. Yu-Hung Chang on December 27, 2020 at 10:20 pm

I really like the colors you chose for the room. The original look wasn’t bad but feel missing something. The new design brought harmony into the space. It’s so clean, warm, and comfortable. Also, it’s easy to maintain (very important). Great job and I hope one day you can help me to design my new home.

I don’t like TV above the mantel. That is too high. Neck strain. Move it to the wall where they hung the four framed squares. Its a family of five so I expect they spend more viewing hours on the TV than on cozy fire. The seating needs to accommodate how they spend their time.

  7. Arnie on December 27, 2020 at 10:22 pm

I don’t like the four white art works behind the chair. It made the wall look bland. A pop of color would have been nicer

I like your videos but your valley girl accent is a turn off.

I’m in Irvine and just love your design style! I look forward to visiting your showroom soon — is the Costa Mesa store open now? I’m interested in the L-shaped sectional in the family room.

    Nice,,,nice,,n. Nice,,

  14. Deborah Smith on December 27, 2020 at 10:28 pm

I love the layout and furniture, but there is no color . I think a light dusty blue on the walls would iook great. but I don’t have to live with it and the important thing is what the client likes. All white everything? I suppose I’m not into that and is a taste.

    it was better before

  20. christopher honkomp on December 27, 2020 at 10:36 pm

    Traditional shape with streamline feel

  21. Southamericangirl42 on December 27, 2020 at 10:37 pm

But the perpendicular part of the sectional is just as uncomfortable in terms of its position to the TV as the former sofas… So, huh?

  22. Moonrise361 on December 27, 2020 at 10:37 pm

Looks lovely. But, one thing though, if comfort was the requirement, those couches are not the best for the back. They have low backs and the back seems like it is a bit far away from the edge. In terms of comfort, I would have wanted higher, more conservative structured backs.

  23. Shannabanana McInnis-Hurd on December 27, 2020 at 10:38 pm

It looked beautiful in the before. Great job though.

  24. Ken J on December 27, 2020 at 10:39 pm

  30. Martini J on December 27, 2020 at 10:48 pm

Very Nice transformation. Where did you get the (big white vase, and flowers) arrangement on the living room table and I couldn’t find the cabinet for the dining room on the site. Not sure if those are still available.

I’VE NEVER HEARD OF PUTTING A CLOTHES BASKET IN A CABINET WHERE DISHES ARE STORED? IT SEEMS MORE EFFECIENT IF BASKET WAS STORED ELSEWHERE OR IN A SEPERATE CHEST…JUST A THOUGHT. I LIKED ORIGINAL PRINTED CHAIRS BUT GUESS HOMEOWNER WANTED CHAIRS OF EQUAL HEIGHT.🤷 NICE SOFA..😉

  35. Latte Zhang on December 27, 2020 at 10:57 pm

  48. Eddie Mickenberg on December 27, 2020 at 11:17 pm

    The sectional alone is 10k

  49. Mess Over on December 27, 2020 at 11:17 pm

The before was awful! Who puts 70’s style mirrors in their dining area anymore?? Nothing flowed. Everything was busy and looked as if it was forced together. And the after was simply amazing as usual.
