What increases the value of a home? Will installing central air, pr installing a swimming pool increase the homes value? When are renovations a good idea, and when are they not worth it?

    Hi for me it s complicate to change a appartement 1 room in 2rooms for example and how can the realtour be sure of the numbers concerning the renovations? I think that actually many people like to buy a appartement with less work to do, because you never know what you can find when you start the renovation.

    We have a newly renovated mother-in-law downstairs with laundry, 2 bedrooms, full kitchen and living room. This means you can easily rent out the downstairs for at least half of the mortgage. How much value does this add to the home?

    What if they haven’t made improvements in the last 15 YEARS (aside from paint). Carpets are yellowed, bathrooms, kitchen, windows, fixtures, roof is old, siding is patched…. Just… Absolutely EVERYTHING is outdated and yellowed. Surely there is a limit to how much the current market can bring up the value of a house before renovations are a necessity, right?

    This was certainly valid 10 years ago but in Canada, especially Toronto cosmetic matters. Furthermore pecific niche homes like luxury century homes are very much affected by decorative embelishments. Most poeple do not have an imagination and sometimes when they see a home they cannot envision the potential of the space.

    Ok I know this video is 3 years old but I’m just now seeing it. But I think your math is wrong, the net on both is 40k, because if you leave it without investing the 10k, that stays in your pocket. So when you you sell and make a profit of 30k, that 10k you didn’t invest will net you 40k. Just like if you did repair.

    I’m confused.. If you just save the ten grand instead of investing it you will have the same results right? Except you if you invest the ten grand you have to put in the work also to get it fixed up.. What am I missing?
